A degree in Family Consumer Science and a background in nonprofit work, Meimei Ma has always felt very grounded in community-led initiatives. When she lost her job during the height of the pandemic, she reflected on what she could offer folks, and began selling Tiramisu at Lake Merritt. Meimei was later contacted by a former classmate to see if she would be interested in purchasing the Creative SIPS food truck and business from her because she was changing career paths.

With her sister Koei having plenty of experience centered on food service and industry logistics, it was a natural decision for Meimei to reach out to her and ask if she would be interested in partnering with her in Creative SIPS.

And, she said yes!

They've spent the last year doing food truck and catering events around the Bay Area, and became increasingly interested in getting experience in managing a brick and mortar spot.

So, when Meimei saw our advertising for aspiring food business owners to apply for E14th Eatery + Kitchen kiosk spaces, she had a conversation with Diana, owner of YoYo Treats, to learn more about her experience working with Mandela Partners, and decided to submit an application.

Her and Koei hope to use their time in our space to market test their menu in a space with low-risk, while receiving on-going coaching to support them as newer business owners!

With the kiosk location and a shared kitchen, we will be able to market test our menu items.
